This is the workspace guide for draft. It covers sign-in, workspaces, asking a question, Plan mode, uploads, research threads, the Videos rail, bookmarks, Trends, Settings, and credits. There are no screenshots here because this page is written from the product itself, not from a filmed tour.
What draft is
Draft is a research agent for UGC. You ask about your niche in a normal sentence. draft searches live TikTok and Instagram, watches the clips, and comes back with creators, hooks, scripts, and what to do next, with the videos attached.
You do not need to connect TikTok or Instagram to start. Public posts and profiles are enough. If you want notes on a specific post or account, paste the link or upload the video.
Create an account and your first workspace
Sign up from the homepage, then draft asks for a display name if it does not have one yet. That name is what you see in the account menu. It is not your email.
Next you add a brand. Each workspace is one brand. Paste a product website URL and choose Analyze my product. draft reads the site and shows Here's what we found so you can edit company name, niche, audience, voice, and keywords before you continue.
On first setup the button says Looks good — start researching. After that, adding another brand says Looks good — create workspace.
If you have no workspaces left, draft sends you back to onboarding. Research will not run without a workspace. If you try, the composer says Create a workspace first.
Home: What can I help you with?
New chat lands on home. The headline is What can I help you with? If the workspace has a brand, you will see Researching viral content for that company, and the category if one is set. If not, you will see Discover viral TikTok and Instagram content tailored to your product.
Type in the box. The placeholder is Ask anything about viral content in your niche... Press Enter to send, or Shift+Enter for a new line.
Good asks are specific. Find 20 skincare creators under 20k who film DITL. What hooks are converting this week for retinol. Write scripts from the openers that are stitching. Review this TikTok against top sensitive-skin UGC. Paste links and @handles when you have them.
draft is for TikTok and Instagram UGC: creators, hooks, scripts, sounds, growth plans, account audits, and your brand's content. Off-topic asks get a short no and a redirect back to that work.
The composer toolbar
Under the question box there are a few controls that change how the run works.
- Upload video attaches a clip from your computer. You can add up to 5 files, 95 MB each, video or audio. While files are going up it says Uploading… A tray under the box lists them. Remove a file with the control named after that filename.
- If you send uploads with no text, draft uses Give me feedback on this video.
- The platform chip says TikTok, Instagram, or TikTok and Instagram. Open Search to pick one or both. draft needs at least one. This scopes the live search, not whether you can paste a link.
- Plan turns the box into a growth-planning form. See Plan mode below.
- If a prompt library template is active, Clear template takes you back to a blank ask.
Upload errors you may see: Add a video first, You can attach up to 5 videos, a file that is not a video, or a file that is too large (max 95 MB).
Plan mode
Turn on Plan when you want a growth plan for a specific account, not a free-form niche question. The tooltip is Plan a growth strategy for an account.
You get an account field and a required goal. The account placeholder is Paste Instagram or TikTok profile URL. The goal field is labeled Goal (required). On a first ask you also get Anything else to include?
Goal chips you can tap: Grow a UGC account from 0, More likes on UGC videos, More watch-through on UGC, More followers from UGC, More comments on UGC, Stronger UGC hooks in 3s.
If those fields are empty, draft will ask you to paste a profile URL like instagram.com/yourhandle or tiktok.com/@yourhandle, or Add a goal so we know what to plan for.
Plan answers lean toward a growth strategy, what to keep, what to fix first, winning clips, and a week of posts. If a thread already has a growth strategy, Plan may turn itself on for the next follow-up.
Prompt library and tips
On home, Prompt library and tips opens a panel with two tabs: Prompt Library and Prompting tips.
Each library card has Use prompt. Some prompts are templates with chips you fill in. Press Tab to jump to the next chip. Double-click a chip to edit it. Delete clears it.
- Find trending topics
- Find UGC creators
- Audit my account
- Analyze a viral video
- Hook formulas
- Write filmable scripts
- Sound & audio trends
- Steal from competitors
- 7-day content plan
- Why this content converts
- Visual & aesthetic research
- Adapt a viral format
You can favorite prompts. That list stays in this browser. Prompting tips cover grounding the ask in your brand, asking for clips not vibes, pasting links, uploading your own cut, toggling TikTok vs Instagram, iterating in the thread, and bookmarking as you go.
A research thread
Send opens a thread at a /research address. Your question sits on the right. draft's work sits on the left.
While it runs you will see a thinking trace. Live it may say a step title and how many videos were scanned, or Putting the answer together. When it finishes it looks like Thought for 322s · 843 videos scanned, with your real numbers. Early on an upload it may say Looking at what you sent.
Some questions can take a few minutes to answer. That line appears under the follow-up box while a run is going. You can stop it with Stop generating. The thread then shows Interrupted or Stopped. You can send another follow-up after that.
The written answer is a report with cited clips. Numbers like S1 in the product point at videos in the Videos rail. Under some answers you will also see desks: accounts to reach, hook formulas, sounds, a beat sheet, a film package, a week plan, a competitor matrix, or a growth strategy. Labels depend on what you asked.
Under the answer: Retry runs the same question again. Copy copies the written answer. Thumbs up and thumbs down are feedback.
If something fails, you may see Something went wrong or the specific error. Stopped is not treated as a failure.
Clips in the answer
Clips show the handle, view count when draft has one, and sometimes Seen before if that video already came up in this workspace.
Click a clip to open the player. If the embed cannot play, you will see This clip can be opened on the original app, with a link out.
Bookmark clip saves it to Bookmarks in this browser for this workspace. Remove bookmark takes it off. Script cards can also say Save this brief / Saved to your briefs.
The Videos rail
When a finished thread has clips or citations, a Videos panel opens on the right. You can close it and open it again. draft remembers that choice.
Export CSV downloads videos.csv with handle, url, views, posted_at, and caption. Copy videos puts the list on your clipboard as handles, view counts, and URLs.
Creator desks labeled Accounts to reach have their own Export CSV, plus sort and Cards or Table. You can copy a DM opener from a row and bookmark a creator.
Follow-ups
Stay in the same thread. The box at the bottom says Ask a follow-up… You keep the same clips, the same brand, and the same platform toggles. Upload video and Plan still work here.
After an answer, chips may appear, like What's winning in this niche right now or Find UGC creators to work with. Click one to fill the box, then send.
While draft is working the box says Interrupt the conversation… Send is off until you stop the run or it finishes.
Your threads
Every send creates or continues a thread in the sidebar. If it has no title yet it says Untitled. While it runs you may see pending…, scraping…, or analyzing… A failed row says Failed. Otherwise you see a relative time.
Open the row menu with Chat actions. You can Star or Unstar, or Delete.
If the list is empty the sidebar says oo nothing yet and go make some noise on New chat.
There is also a Chats page at /convos. The title is Chats. New research goes home. That page is not in the sidebar tabs. Most people just use the sidebar list.
Bookmarks
Open Bookmarks in the sidebar. The line under the title is Drag clips or creators together to make a collection.
Clip bookmarks come from Bookmark clip on a card in chat. Creator bookmarks come from Save @handle on an Accounts to reach desk. Creators sync with your account. Clip bookmarks stay in this browser for this workspace.
Empty state: no bookmarks yet. Bookmark a clip in chat or a creator on a desk. Start a new chat takes you home.
Drag cards onto each other to make a collection. You can title it, add a description, and use Share to copy the title, description, and links. Collections show a Private badge. Notes use the No note placeholder until you write one.
Trends
Trends is a read-only board of UGC formats. It does not start a new scrape when you open it.
Pick Platform (TikTok or Instagram) and Category (SaaS / AI, Skincare, or Fitness). The strip at the top is What to beat.
Each format card can include When to film this, Example hook, Film it in 3 shots, and Steal this. If a board is empty you will see no UGC formats yet.
Workspaces
Each workspace is a brand. The workspaces page says Each workspace is a brand. Add one by pasting a product URL.
Create new workspace opens the same URL flow as onboarding. Click a card to make that brand active and go home. Hover a card to delete it. Confirm looks like Delete “Name”? This removes the brand profile for this workspace.
Switching workspaces from the sidebar takes you home under that brand. Threads, bookmarks, and research stay with the workspace they were made in.
Settings
Open your name in the sidebar, then Settings. Close settings dismisses the panel.
- Profile: display name, 2 to 60 characters. Save name. Shown in your account menu.
- Email: Email in use. This is the address you sign in with. The panel says to contact support if you need to change it.
- Password: Update password, or Add password if you signed up with Google. You will need current, new, and confirm.
There is no credits meter and no plan picker inside Settings yet. Billing and Change Plan still open this panel. Use the homepage pricing cards to pick Starter or Pro when you sign up.
Plans and credits
Starter is $24.99 a month with 1,000 credits. Pro is $79.99 a month with 4,000 credits. Both include the same product. Pro is just more credits so you can run more threads and watch more clips.
A run that watches a lot of videos costs more than a short follow-up. Credits refresh with each billing period. Unused included credits do not roll over.
If you hit the included total, pay-as-you-go continues so the thread does not stop in the middle of an answer. Yearly billing is 20% off and prepays 12 months of the same monthly allotment.
draft does not show a per-run credit price in the workspace. See Pricing on the homepage for the current amounts.
The first-run tour
After onboarding, the first visit to home may show a short tour. Skip, Back, Next, and Start asking move you through it.
- This is home: ask in a normal sentence.
- Your threads: every research thread lands in the sidebar.
- Bookmarks: save clips and creators.
- You: Settings, billing, and plan live in the account menu.
Something broken?
Use the Report an issue control on the Draft site and tell us what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened. Include the page URL if you can. We read these.
You can also email hello@lane.app from Contact in the account menu.
Common blocks: Create a workspace first, a bad Plan URL, a file over 95 MB, or a run that needs a few minutes. Stop generating if you want to abandon a long turn and ask again.
